DIFFERENT STAGES THEATER AT THE NEW HUNTINGTON TO HOST OPEN HOUSE ANNOUNCING INAUGURAL PRODUCTION OF THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Different Stages Theater, the Fort Wayne area's new resident professional theater company at the award-winning New Huntington Theater, is proud to announce “Behind the Mountain! A free open house preview of The New Huntington Theater and Different Stages production of The Sound of Music!”

Following seven years of renovation by New York City transplants Richard Najuch and Joel Froomkin, The New Huntington Theater has been gorgeously remodeled into an art deco space as home of Different Stages Theater.   Froomkin and Najuch relocated to Indiana in mid 2007 with the vision of remodeling the disused Huntington Theater and bringing the space new life as home to their professional theater company.  After seven years of work (90 percent of it completed by the pair themselves) the theater will now have new life as home to Different Stages Theater.   Different Stages is a professional company created by Froomkin and Najuch featuring cast members from New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles who travel to Huntington to take part in the reimagined, original productions of beloved theater offerings.  The Sound of Music is Different Stages' premiere production opening at The New Huntington on July 8th.

Different Stages invites the public to the open house to see for themselves the beautifully renovated space and the magnificent Sound of Music sets as well as to experience a sample of the performance from Lauren Lukacek who is playing Maria.   This free event will be held on Friday June 27 beginning at 7pm at The New Huntington Theater, 528 North Jefferson Street, Huntington Indiana.   Due to seating limitations the event is restricted to the first 250 guests who arrive that evening - there are no reservations or rsvps for the open house.

Different Stages' production of The Sound of Music opens July 8th and plays through July 27th.  Full show schedule, further details, and preview videos are available online at www.different-stages.com or by calling the box office at 260-454-0603.
